{"id":450,"date":"2018-03-14T22:39:15","date_gmt":"2018-03-14T22:39:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alanswan.com\/?p=450"},"modified":"2018-03-14T22:39:15","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T22:39:15","slug":"choiceprizelookback","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/alanswan.com\/index.php\/2018\/03\/14\/choiceprizelookback\/","title":{"rendered":"A look back at the RT\u00c9 Choice Music Prize"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Ships<\/b>\u00a0has been announced as the winner of the\u00a0<b><a href=\"http:\/\/choicemusicprize.ie\">RT\u00c9\u00a0Choice Music Prize<\/a> Irish Album of the Year<\/b> <b>2017<\/b>\u00a0for the album <b>Precession\u00a0<\/b><i>(Ships Music label<\/i>).\u00a0The judging panel, made up of Irish music media professionals, deliberated at length tonight before choosing the winning album.<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GCwiZRwn-b8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><b>Ships<\/b>\u00a0received a cheque for \u20ac10,000, a prize which has been provided by the Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) and the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) &#8211; as well as a specially-commissioned award.<\/p>\n<p>The winner of the\u00a0<b>RT\u00c9\u00a0Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year<\/b>\u00a0was also announced and\u00a0<b>Chasing Abbey<\/b>\u00a0won the prize for their song\u00a0<b>\u201cThat Good Thing\u201d<\/b>. Decided by the public via the\u00a0RT\u00c9\u00a0and Choice Music Prize websites, fans got behind their favourite song in big numbers.<\/p>\n<p>The sold-out event in Vicar Street was hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/2fm.rte.ie\">RT\u00c9\u00a02FM<\/a>\u2019s Eoghan McDermott and was broadcast live on the station on a specially extended Louise McSharry show.<\/p>\n<p>RT\u00c92<b>\u00a0<\/b>will broadcast a one-hour\u00a0<b>TV highlights programme<\/b>\u00a0of the\u00a0RT\u00c9\u00a0Choice Music Prize featuring\u00a0performances from the acts and interviews by Bl\u00e1thnaid Treacy on <b>Sunday March 18<\/b><b><sup>th<\/sup><\/b><b>\u00a0at 11pm.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Earlier during the day, the inaugural \u201cConversations\u201d took place at the Morrison Hotel, a music forum attended by international and Irish industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ships\u00a0has been announced as the winner of the\u00a0RT\u00c9\u00a0Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2017\u00a0for the album Precession\u00a0(Ships Music label).\u00a0The judging panel, made up of Irish music media professionals, deliberated at length tonight before choosing the winning album.
